In fact, safety is so important that the OSHA Regulations state that each employer must ensure that every employee receives forklift and aerial work platform training.

Premier Platforms offers this training as a service to our loyal customers. Whether it’s at one of our facilities or at the customer's jobsite or office, our safety training courses cover the safe and proper use of equipment in accordance with OSHA Regulations and ANSI Standards.

Aerial Work Platform (AWP) Operator Safety Training

Aerial Work Platform (AWP) Operator Safety Training:

  • Self-propelled Boom Supported Lifts (Boom Lifts)
  • Self-propelled Vertical Elevating Scissor Lifts (Scissor Lifts)
  • Self-propelled Vertical Mast Lifts (Run-abouts)
  • Manually Propelled Vertical Mast Lift (Push-arounds)
  • Trailer Mounted Boom Supported Lifts (Tow-behinds)

What to expect: The class is broken into two sections, Theory and Practical.

During the Theory portion, trainees will watch a short film on operator safety; they will receive a handout that follows along with the video and theory portion of the class. We will then cover the "5-Step Approach" to Operator Safety which covers the Pre-use Inspections, Work site inspections, Proper operation, and proper shut down of the lifts. We will then cover the Minimum Approach Distance for approaching power lines and other energized objects. To complete the Theory portion trainees will take a test to demonstrate their understanding of the material covered.

During the Practical portion, Trainees will learn and demonstrate understanding of how to properly perform Pre-use inspections, Function Control Tests, Work Site Inspections, Operation Controls, and Shut down Procedures. Trainees complete the Practical portion by satisfactorily completing the Driving Test.

The training will take approximately three hours to complete and will include Classroom (Theory) and hands-on (practical) training. Upon Completion of your training all trainees will receive a wallet card showing they have satisfactorily completed the training, a pen/stylus, and a hip Smooth Operator hat.

  • Class I: Electric Motor Rider Trucks
  • Class II: Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
  • Class III: Electric Motor Hand Trucks or Hand/Rider Trucks
  • Class IV: Internal Combustion Engine Trucks (Solid/Cushion Tires)
  • Class V: Internal Combustion Engine Trucks (Pneumatic Tires)
  • Class VI: Electric and Internal Combustion Engine Tractors
  • Class VII: Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks
